CSS Compulsory Subjects
There are six compulsory subjects in CSS, which are as follows:
English Essay
English Essay is a compulsory subject in CSS, which requires the candidates to write an essay of 1000 to 1200 words on a given topic. The purpose of this subject is to assess the candidate's writing skills, creativity, and ability to express their thoughts in a coherent and logical manner.
English (Precis and Composition): English (Precis and Composition) is another compulsory subject in CSS, which tests the candidate's comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills. It comprises two sections, precis writing and essay writing.
General Science and Ability
General Science and Ability is a subject that assesses the candidate's knowledge of basic science concepts, analytical skills, and reasoning abilities. It comprises two parts: objective and subjective.
Current Affairs
Current Affairs is a subject that tests the candidate's knowledge of current national and international affairs, including political, economic, and social issues. It comprises both objective and subjective parts.
Pakistan Affairs
Pakistan Affairs is a compulsory subject in CSS that examines the candidate's understanding of Pakistan's history, politics, economy, and culture. It comprises both objective and subjective parts.
Islamic Studies or Comparative Study of Major Religions (For Non-Muslims): Islamic Studies or Comparative Study of Major Religions (For Non-Muslims) is a compulsory subject in CSS that tests the candidate's knowledge of Islamic teachings, history, and civilization or comparative study of major religions.
CSS Optional Subjects
There are several optional subjects in CSS, and the candidates are required to choose one subject from each group. There are three groups of optional subjects, and each group consists of six to seven subjects. The following is the list of optional subjects in CSS:
