CSS Eligibility Criteria 2023

 CSS, or the Central Superior Services, is a competitive examination held in Pakistan to recruit individuals for various civil service positions in the federal government. The eligibility criteria for CSS are as follows:

Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen of Pakistan or a permanent resident of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.


Age

 The candidate must be between 21 to 30 years of age on 31st December of the year in which they are applying for the examination. However, there is a relaxation of age limit for candidates belonging to certain categories, such as government servants, disabled persons, and Balochistan.


Education

 The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or equivalent qualification.


Percentage

The candidate must have secured at least 2nd division in their Bachelor's degree. However, a relaxation of 10% marks is available for candidates belonging to certain categories.


Physical fitness

 The candidate must be physically fit and meet the prescribed standards for the medical examination.


Domicile

 The candidate must have a domicile of the province or region for which they are applying.


Character

The candidate must have a good moral character and not have been convicted of any criminal offense.

Number of Attempts

 A candidate can attempt the CSS exam a maximum of three times.


Subjects

The CSS exam consists of a written exam and a personality test. The written exam consists of 12 papers, out of which six are compulsory and six are optional. The compulsory papers include English Essay, English (Precis and Composition), General Science and Ability, Current Affairs, Pakistan Affairs, and Islamic Studies or Comparative Study of Major Religions. The optional papers are chosen by the candidate from a list of subjects provided by the FPSC.

The FPSC publishes a detailed syllabus for the CSS exam, which includes the topics and areas that will be covered in each paper.


Application process

 The CSS exam is conducted at various centers across Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Gilgit, and Hyderabad.


Exam duration

 The CSS exam consists of a total of 1200 marks, and the duration of the written exam is three hours for each paper.


Negative marking

 The CSS exam has a negative marking system, where 0.25 marks are deducted for each incorrect answer.

 CSS exam preparation requires dedication, hard work, and consistent effort. Candidates are advised to start their preparation.


CSS Result
